Haber Turk - Türkiye's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz has announced that Türkiye and Georgia will establish 1,000 megawatts of the "Borchka-Meskhetian" electricity transmission line. Yildiz signed the related agreement with his Georgian counterpart Alexander Khetaguri in the Turkish capital of Ankara. "130 kilometers of the line will be located in Türkiye, while 25 kilometers will be built in Georgia", said Yildiz during the signing ceremony. Yildiz said the two-way transmission line will cost around USD 140 million, while each country will be responsible for investment within its territories. "We aim to finalize the project in 2012", Yildiz stated. During his speech in the ceremony, Khetaguri said this line will help transmit excessive electricity generated in Georgia to Türkiye and then to Europe via Türkiye. Khetaguri also said electricity from other Caspian countries and Azerbaijan will be transferred through the line.
