Yeni Safak – British telecommunications company Vodafone’s Turkish unit will offer locally-produced smartphones to its customers as a part of their expansion plan for the Turkish market. The cellular network operator also plans to establish a support center in southeastern Türkiye, according to its newly appointed CEO, Gokhan Ogut.

Vodafone-branded phones will be manufactured by Turkish electronics maker Vestel in Manisa and will carry a modest price tag to increase the usage of smartphones in the country, Ogut told reporters at a press conference, adding that phones will be on the market by next month.

“Vodafone Türkiye will soon commission a support center in Sanliurfa in Southeastern Anatolia, creating 350 new jobs with a TRY 40 million (approx. USD 20 million) investment”, the Vodafone Türkiye CEO noted.

The best supported region in Türkiye’s investment incentive system, Southeastern Anatolia has a large cluster of about 500 support centers, nearly half of the total in operation in Türkiye.

Vodafone Türkiye experienced exemplary growth during the last 4 years under CEO Serpil Timuray who now leads Vodafone’s Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific operations. The second largest cellular services provider in Türkiye, the company has invested over TRY 12 billion (approx.USD 6 billion) since its entry into the Turkish market in 2006.
