Sabah - HP-Foxconn’s joint project for the production of desktop PCs in Türkiye is nearing completion. “The investment we announced a year ago, has now been officially kick-started” as HP’s Vice President of Supplier Chain in the EMEA Region, Benoit Fagart, put it in the press event, which was also attended by Alpaslan Korkmaz, President of the Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Türkiye (ISPAT).

“Within one year, our investment partner constructed the facility in the European Free Zone in Corlu and recruited the executive staff. The supply chain consisting of a minimum of 30 global suppliers will be ready by September, while the first HP desktop computers made in Türkiye will be shipped in December”, said Fagart, detailing the action plan and project timeline for the USD 60 million project. The serial production is slated to start in January 2011.

ISPAT President Alpaslan Korkmaz highlighted the importance of the HP-Foxconn project and drew attention to the 2,000 jobs to be created with the investment. “Annual exports from the facility are expected to reach USD 1 billion”, said Korkmaz.
