Bloomberg - ZAO Inter RAO, the electricity-trading arm of Russia's national utility, asked the Turkish Energy Ministry to delay a tender to build two power plants so it can prepare a bid, Sabah Newspaper reported. Türkiye scheduled an auction for June 26 for the right to build and run the coal-fired plants, expected to cost $5 billion, at the Afsin-Elbistan coalfield, the Istanbul-based newspaper said. The southern deposit holds 40 percent of the country's lignite reserves, according to Sabah. Inter RAO told Energy Minister Hilmi Guler that it may invest $5 billion to build and operate the so-called C and D power stations at Afsin-Elbistan, Sabah reported. The power stations will have a minimum capacity of 1,200 megawatts, the newspaper said.
